Taking the Next Step— A Painting Workshop with Michael Coy

November 4th—6th, 2011 in Sebastopol CA.

In this workshop we will build upon your individual strengths as we address some of the issues keeping your paintings from attaining the next level. Together we'll develop a strategy for approaching your paintings from concept through completion, utilizing painting fundimentals while incorporating your unique vision. Whether you like to paint bold and loose or tightly designed and polished, a systematic approach suited to your goals and abilities can provide a foundation that will allow you to create with confidence.

The workshop is for oil and acrylic painters, from beginners to accomplished artists.
The fundimentals we'll cover include: composition, value, color, edges and paint quality.
I'll do brief demonstrations and provide ongoing feedback as you work.

We'll begin with an optional but recommended meet and greet on Friday evening from 6—9:00 in which I will review your work and discuss with you your goals for your painting. I will do a brief demo and we'll talk about process and strategies for approaching the painting you will begin on Saturday morning. Saturday and Sunday 9—4:00 will be dedicated to painting. I will provide advice and examples of concepts specific to the painters individual issues throughout the sessions.

A materials list, initial consultation and directions to the location will be given upon signing up for the workshop.
The workshop is limited to 8 participants. The cost is $150 for the weekend. Payment is due upon sign-up.
