About the Artist

Michael Coy is a visual artist specializing in oil painting, illustration, and installation art. Exercising his natural passion for creative storytelling and visual ideation, Michael melds the two to create unique realities and provocative juxtapositions for the observer to delight in. He currently finds himself painting with oils, teaching painting workshops, and dreaming up fanciful worlds from his nature-filled Sonoma County setting.

After graduating from Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles, he worked in the entertainment and advertising industries as a storyboard, pre-production, and ideation artist for a wide range of clients including Disney Imagineering, Disney Online, Microsoft, Sony Television Animation, Activision, Warner Bros, Propaganda Films and Lucas Learning.

Transitioning to the Northern California lifestyle, Michael began painting both narrative and landscape paintings as well as continuing freelance work. In recent years he has created two interactive projects for Burning Man that received Honoraria Grants as well as assisting on others. Michael has taught private painting workshops for over a decade and continues to teach from his home studio in Northern California.
